R.I.S.E. WORDS: Day 89: WATER WATER WATER

R.I.S.E. WORDS: Day 89: WATER WATER WATER

We are more than our bodies, yet the health and condition of our bodies affect the quality of the "good life".

It's my intention to do a series of blog entries on eating for the "good life"- insights and affirmations on what is best included and eliminated from our day to day diets.

But in the meantime here is something you can do now towards having a good body for the good life: Increase your consumption of clean, filtered water. Water is the elemental substance of the body. Your body is more than 70% water. And many of us do not drink enough. I follow a nutritional recommendation that we drink 2/3 of our body weight, in ounces of water, per day. At 175 pounds, that's about 116 ounces of water spread out over the course of an average day for me. And body body feels and functions better for it. So drink up and body-up!!

Now R.I.S.E. and REALIZE (your) INHERENT SELF-EXCELLENCE.

I got into the habit of eating salad almost every day with my eggs and toast breakfast--instead of bacon or sausage. I picked this up from an Israeli girlfriend I had years ago. Salad with breakfast is standard in Israel. We also stick with brown rice, whole grain breads, and minimize the refined foods we eat. Raw is always good--fruits and veggies. Also wheat grass juice is an amazing blood-cleanser. And we try to hydrate before rather than during or after meals. Drinking water before and during meals dilutes the digestive fluids and makes it harder for the body to gather the nutrients in the food.
